Carolyn Henderson
Yearbook Sales Representative – Matthews, North Carolina
In my day-to-day job, I work with area schools to help them produce the yearbook of their dreams. This means I actively teach in the classroom, educating students and teachers about design, copy writing, photography, marketing, and basically how to run a small business. All of this focuses on helping them tell the story of their year.
I have been at Walsworth for 30 years, but had prior experience with yearbooks. I was a yearbook editor in high school and a yearbook adviser for seven years before I started at Walsworth.
I came to Walsworth because of Missy Green. She was my yearbook rep when I was an adviser and, when she switched companies to work for Walsworth, she took advisers to Missouri to visit the facilities in Marceline. I’m from the Midwest, and this visit felt like I was coming home. The people were amazing, and two years later I left the classroom to be a yearbook sales rep for Walsworth.
The coolest thing I get to do at my job is I have the privilege of exposing students to great yearbook design, and when I see the lightbulb go off for them it is the absolute best feeling ever! Having been a classroom teacher, I love that I still get to teach every day!
I come to work every day because I love to make people feel better, and I’m so happy when I can take the yearbook stress out of my advisers’ lives.
A fun fact about me is being a mom to three great kids has been the best accomplishment of my life.
Outside of work, I spend weekends in the fall traveling to see my son play football for Cornell. I also enjoy playing tennis on several teams.
I give back to my community by being involved in the PTOs and Booster Club at my children’s schools.
The people at Walsworth have truly been family to me and my family over the years. Both my boys were born very premature and my Walsworth family – CSRs, fellow sales reps and managers – all dove in and took care of my schools while I was with them in the hospital. Then, two of my children each experienced life-threatening illnesses that kept me with them for an extended period of time. There were Walsworth people answering my emails, going to visit my schools, returning phone calls, having my house cleaned, sending meals, videos, toys, and the list goes on. Most of this was before we had mobile reps, so this was truly people helping me because they were my family. My most recent experience of outpouring of care from my Walsworth family was the illness and passing of my mother this past spring. This time I even had advisers reaching out to help other advisers during my absence in a show of love and support for me. My family and I will forever be grateful for our Walsworth family.
