Cheryl Finney
Finance Department – Marceline, Missouri
At Walsworth, I am the assistant to the CEO Don Walsworth, Sr. and the CFO Jeff Vogel. I am also the support assistant to the other executives in the Marceline Administrative Facility.
Before Walsworth, I worked at the Brookfield Library the summer I was pregnant with my first daughter. Then, I went to work for Stanbury Uniforms, another local company that has been in business for many years.
When I was newly married and just had my first child, it was the best job I could have asked for. I was super excited when I got the call for an interview and then got hired to do cottage work.
I have been with Walsworth for 34 years! I began in the Paste-Up Department in Brookfield in 1990, and since then I have operated in the Yearbook and Commercial Customer Service Departments and worked in both the Brookfield and Marceline facilities. I have been the Executive Administrative Assistant since Dec. 2011.
One of the most interesting parts of my job is that with most days, not one day is the same.
I would have to say the thing I love most about my job is the level of professionalism I am surrounded by each day. I truly work with a great group of people! I am honored and happy to have a career that is more than just a paycheck but offers many benefits.
If I had a personalized coffee mug at work, it would say “Always share a smile!”
A fun fact about me is ever since I met my husband 36 years ago, I have been in love with hotrod cars. Most of those 36 years we have owned a hotrod. Approximately 20 years ago, we started truck pulling. We have a very nice 1946 Chevy pickup that my husband and his brother turned into a pulling truck. We have been to MANY truck pulls all over Iowa and Missouri and have almost always placed in the top three. We now get to enjoy watching our son carry on the tradition in the same truck.
My husband and I celebrated our 35th anniversary in February. We have three wonderful, grown and married children along with four grandsons, two granddaughters and one grandchild due in October. We also have a very loving eighty-pound Doberman Pincher that is my lap dog. She is 4 years old.
When I’m not at work, I love to quilt and craft in the winter. My summers are filled with lawn and flower-bed care, and spending lots of time relaxing at my pool.
Walsworth has been a big part of my family for 34 years. It has allowed my family to afford the things we needed and wanted. Walsworth has paid to continue my education to further my career many times over the years and I am very grateful for that.
I contribute to the Walsworth Community Chest which donates to Linn County to help families in need.
I definitely have to say, the most special memories made with Walsworth are my relationships with the people I’ve worked with. There are several people over the years who have truly become family to me and still are to this day.
