Allison Schimelpfenig
I was hired into a newly created role, Corporate Recruiter, in April 2021. Since then, I’ve supported office and sales recruitment, developed recruitment marketing materials, led employee engagement initiatives and created our Walsworth internship program.
In other words, I’m a bridge-builder, storyteller and people-developer! I build connections and trust between candidates and managers, share the “Why Walsworth” story, and work with our Walsworth teams to ensure that we’re taking care of our people.
Walsworth is my first print industry job, and I’ve been here 2 1/2 years. I didn’t know much about printing when I was hired, but I have always been a bookworm! One of the main reasons I chose to work with Walsworth was that my position was brand new – there was room to expand my role and make it my own. I’m thankful to work under our EVP of Human Resources who gives me new opportunities. Managers can make or break your career – I’m blessed to have one of the good ones!
I’ve loved being on the Employer of Choice focus team and getting to lead employee engagement activities. Through my involvement in employee engagement, I was able to travel to all Walsworth locations and meet employees from multiple departments and functions.
My personalized coffee mug would say: Are you SURE you need another cup of coffee?!
I come to work every day because, as a member of the corporate recruitment team, I have the opportunity to interact with all parts of the business. I get to see the big picture. I love bringing Walsworth locations together as “One Walsworth” while celebrating the unique aspects of each of our locations and teams!
A fun fact about me is for 4 years of my life, I was paid thousands of dollars to hurl lethal objects through the air. (AKA, I threw javelin and shot put in college.)
I’m so very blessed to have an amazing family that has supported me through the ups and downs of life. My husband and I live south of Kansas City and love our life here in the KC area! I love baking, kayaking, playing frisbee with my dog, Yelping (food reviews), singing and playing piano on my church’s worship team and hosting game nights with friends.
Walsworth has been a place where I can not only develop employees, but also stretch myself in my personal growth.
I’m actively involved with my church’s events, community work project group, and worship teams, a military family/spouse group and my local HR organization’s membership committee.
