Steve Wright, Fulfillment Supervisor
Describe what you do at Walsworth.
As part of the Walsworth Fulfillment team, we securely store books we produced, and other materials related to our customers’ businesses. We then ship those books as needed to individual end users or businesses. We offer the additional services of assembly, kitting, and special labeling and packaging.
Now, describe what you do like you are meeting someone at church or at a party.
We run a fulfillment center, like Amazon, but ship mostly books for specialized industries. If I were at a party, I would then typically go on to show them they most likely have something printed by Walsworth in their house or at their business. This comes immediately after the incorrect assumption and comment of “isn’t print dead?” I have yet to find a person who isn’t touched or affected by our products.
How long have you worked at Walsworth?
I have been with the same team of people for about 30 years.
What made you start working here?
I started working at Imperial Printing to earn funds for college. The names have changed and fortunately it has been and remains family focused.
Do you have family who works here?
I do not have family that works for Walsworth. I have many very close friends that do.
What is the coolest thing you get to do at work?
The coolest aspect of my job, when viewed in retrospect, is how much commerce and education is supported through our behind-the-scenes efforts at Walsworth.
What is your favorite work story to tell? One that you will never forget.
I could tell you dozens of stories, but I first require a handwritten and signed irrevocable indemnity letter from Don Walsworth. I’ve seen a lot over the years that provides for an occasional chuckle.
What makes you want to come to work every day?
The desire to work with and help people that have made the same conscious decisions to work in this industry and make our company the best. Or, as my 90-year-old step-dad recently said, “You have a bad habit…you like to eat.”
What would you be doing if you were not at work?
If not at work, I would be running or cycling, or having coffee (or an occasional beer) with my running friends. I also like to read and volunteer and help people with projects.
If you were meeting a new customer and are working on a project for them, what would you like them to know about you?
I am part of a team that will do whatever it takes to meet your needs. We thrive on commitment and solutions.
What does working at Walsworth mean to you?
Working at Walsworth provides an opportunity (and welcome expectation) to contribute to a team/company that will reward me with both the sense of satisfaction, the means to have choices, and to provide for my family and retirement.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to a person who is looking for help on how to deal with our current times, with regard to your area of expertise? One piece of advice would give, only because you asked, is be thankful.
