Yearbook Sales Intern
As a Yearbook Sales Intern, I’ve been working with the Sales Training team to facilitate onboarding of our new class of Yearbook Sales Reps by editing, producing and coming up with additional training materials. I have also collaborated with the marketing department, helping with the development of our Possibilities book. In addition, I’ve been able to shadow several Walsworth employees across departments, gaining valuable insight into the company’s operations and culture.
My job every day is a bit different, which is why I like what I’m doing. Some days I sit in on sales meetings and take note of good practices that I see as I observe, some days I spend assembling and sending packages to our new sales reps and some days I get to spearhead projects that I came up with myself. No matter what, my days are filled with learning about sales and the printing industry.
What brought me to Walsworth was my experience in high school as the editor-in-chief of our school newspaper. When looking for internships, I saw “Walsworth” and remembered the name. Then, after looking at one of my yearbooks from high school, I discovered all of them were printed by Walsworth! My passion for journalism and communication led me to look into this position, and I’ve always been curious about working in sales. This position quickly presented itself as one that allows the exploration of interests while gaining valuable hands-on experience, leading me to accept the offer.
The coolest thing about my job is being able to see all sides of the printing business. From touring the production facility to training new sales reps, I know now what it really takes to be a strong competitor in the printing industry. There is so much more behind it than meets the eye, and seeing that has only made me more curious about what else there is to uncover.
My personalized coffee mug would say “This Glass is Half Full.”
I want to come in to work each day because of the connections I’ve made with everyone in the Overland Park office. Everyone has been welcoming to me as an intern and they are always excited to share their experiences at or before Walsworth.
A fun fact about me is my eyes are two slightly different shades of brown!
I would like to share that I have three siblings, all of whom are 10+ years older than me, making me the baby of the family. I also have two adorable nieces and one dog who I’ve nicknamed “My Shadow” because she refuses to leave my side when I’m home from school.
One of my hobbies is that I was a competitive dancer for 13 years, and now I go line dancing every week to continue my passion! Outside of that, I really enjoy being in nature whether it’s camping, going to the lake, going on picnics or going on walks with my family or friends when the weather is nice! I also love watching sports with my friends and family.
Walsworth has given me the opportunity to explore a wide range of departments and roles, many of which I hadn’t considered before. As a result, I now have a much clearer sense of the fields that align with my interests and strengths. The connections I’ve made here have also been incredibly valuable, and I’m confident they will continue to be meaningful as I move forward in my career!
My favorite way to give back to my community is being a role model and resource for those who need it. Back at Mizzou, I am an RA. Through that role, I hold several different positions that allow me to share my experiences with others; giving advice and preparing them for the future. I love watching others grow and being able to be a part of the process, so with any role I am given, I always seek out opportunities to do just that.
My favorite memory at Walsworth is when we hosted Follow-Up Training for sales reps hired in January. Seeing this process unfold and hearing the new reps talk about their experiences in the field taught me so much about the ins and outs of yearbook sales, and it was an experience that truly opened my eyes. Even though I was only with the new reps for a couple of days, the connections I made and what I learned from them were so valuable and I loved being there!
